We would like to extend our love & support to Carole, Beryl, Laura, Nathan, Neil, Hannah, Toby & Frank. The Ingleton Football Club family stand with you at this difficult time and will always be there when needed, just as Nev was to us. To show our support to his family and many friends we will be holding a one-minute silence, in his honour, at our home fixture this weekend.
Nev was a long-time supporter of our club and a valuable committee member. Never seen without his blue book of minutes & always on the ball with the Christmas draw, we would have been lost without his help for all these years. Nev had a way of getting himself the unglamourous jobs but completed each of them with calm and pride. From glass collecting at events, tidying of the field and stands, collecting money from, at times reluctant, matchday crowds to attending numerous riveting league meetings with his close friend Boardy, despite the lack of a bar causing much disappointment in recent years!
Nev was the voice of reason, the sensible head whilst never being shy to air his concerns, but all with a measured approach and all with one thing at the very heart of it all...Our club. He would follow the teams Home and Away and made special efforts to talk with all the lads at every opportunity. Win, Lose or Draw his approach would never change offering a friendly reassurance to every single player who has the pleasure of crossing his path. He loved this club and was proud of where we had reached...that doesn't happen without men like Nev on the sidelines!
Personally, he was my go-to. You knew he would tell you fair and straight and would do that with a smile and humour that was special to this great man. You don't make them like Nev anymore!
You will be sadly missed, and we will forever keep that collection pot jangling in your memory....Rest in Peace Neville. ???
